CEX.IO Adds Euro Support

, September 29, 2014

We are proud to announce adding Euro support to CEX.IO Bitcoin Crypto Exchange. With the new pairs, traders will be able to buy and sell Bitcoin, Litecoin and Dogecoin for Euro. It is the second fiat currency for CEX.IO following the release of USD, which has been officially open for trading on September 23.

Euro is the second most traded currency in the world used as an official local currency by over 334 million people in 18 countries of the European Union, as of 2013. Our move was primarily initiated by numerous requests from Europe-based users, allowing them to avoid cross-exchange rate to USD and make transactions even more transparent and easy-to-use. Before the inclusion, funds were automatically converted into USD for trade operations and withdrawals.

“Adding Euro support has been our strategic decision, and we are glad to implement it in such a short period after opening USD market on CEX.IO,” Jeffrey Smith, Chief Information Officer. “We want to make CEX.IO global and available for every single person on the Earth. This is where you will gradually see your language and your local currency.”

Notably, when analysing Google trends, one may notice that “Bitcoin to Euro” search is closely following “Bitcoin to USD” showing significant interest of EU citizens in the cryptocurrency. Apart from being a homeland to Euro, EU market seems to have a great potential for developing Bitcoin ecosystem, growing the number of Bitcoin adherents and startups.
